Kasol Trip from Delhi: Route, Best Time, Costs and a 3-Day Plan
Everything you need to plan a short Kasol trip from Delhi - the overnight route, the best months, what to see in the Parvati Valley and how to pair it with Manali.
Where Kasol is
Kasol is a small riverside village in the Parvati Valley of Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh. Pine forest, the fast-flowing Parvati river and a relaxed cafe scene make it one of the most popular short getaways from Delhi, especially for friends travelling together.
How to get there from Delhi
- Distance: roughly 500-520 km by road.
- Overnight bus: most travellers take an overnight Volvo from Delhi to Bhuntar, about 30 km from Kasol, then a short taxi or local bus up the valley.
- By car: plan on 11-13 hours with breaks. Leaving at night means you arrive by morning.
Best time to visit
- March to June: pleasant days and cool nights, the busiest season.
- September to November: clear skies after the monsoon, a favourite for photos.
- July and August: heavy rain and a risk of landslides on mountain roads, so keep plans flexible.
- December to February: cold, with occasional snow, and many cafes keep shorter hours.
What to do in and around Kasol
- Walk across the bridge to Chalal village along the river.
- Visit Manikaran Sahib gurudwara and its hot springs, a few kilometres down the valley.
- Take a day hike towards Tosh or Kheerganga if you are fit and the weather allows.
- Spend an evening at the riverside cafes - the reason most people come back.
A simple 3-day plan with Manali
Night 0: overnight bus from Delhi. Day 1: reach the valley, check in, walk to Chalal and Manikaran. Day 2: drive to Manali for Hadimba temple, Old Manali and the Mall Road, or a trip towards Solang Valley. Day 3: morning at leisure, overnight bus back to Delhi.
Tips
- Carry warm layers in every season - nights in the valley are cold.
- Mobile signal and ATMs can be patchy beyond Kasol; keep some cash.
- Respect local rules and the environment: carry your waste back down.
