India Tour Packages from Canada: Punjab, Himachal and the Golden Triangle

Many Canadians who visit India are coming home: to family in Punjab, to a wedding, or to show their children Amritsar for the first time. Getting here

Most flights from Toronto and Vancouver land in Delhi (DEL), direct or with one stop. From Delhi it is about five hours by road to Chandigarh and seven to eight to Amritsar, or a short domestic flight. We can meet you at the airport and drive you to your family, your hotel or the start of a tour: see airport pickups.

India is 9 hours 30 minutes ahead of Toronto in summer and 10 hours 30 minutes ahead in winter; from Vancouver it is 12 hours 30 minutes and 13 hours 30 minutes. Plan your first day lightly.

Visa

Almost every visitor from abroad needs an Indian visa before flying, and many passports can apply for an e-Visa online. Rules and eligibility change, so check your own passport on the official Government of India site, indianvisaonline.gov.in, before you book flights. Use only that site: look-alike agency sites charge extra for the same form.

When to come

November to February is the favourite season for visits to Punjab: cool days, foggy mornings and the wedding season. Delhi and Punjab are very hot from April to June. For the hills, March to June and September to November are best; July and August are monsoon months, when mountain roads can close.
